Abstract

The purpose of meta tags is to allow web utilities to extract pertinent information from html web pages. The data is embeded into the header portion with a name and content construct. All meta tags are contained within the header tags.

.

Purpose

Auction Salesbills.net uses meta tags to harvest event data from various auctioneer and auction house websites. Much of the information is contained in the basic meta tags like title, description, subject, and keywords. Some of the tags are used in a specific method that is a slight variation from internet standards while others are entirely custom for the auction industry. In all cases the names are in simple english and self explanatory.

PHP code:

 preg_replace('/[^a-z]/', '', strtolower($string))
